C20 ( formerly OST.) Pure Vitamin C-21.5 Advanced Serum | Review

Chi legge questo blog sa che ho la pelle sensibilisima e prona all'irritarsi, e che soffro occasionalmente di acne. A parte questo, ho un sacco di zone iperpigmentate (lentiggini, macchie da brufoli) e, laddove ho sofferto di acne da ragazzina, la grana della pelle ha ancora piccoli buchetti che sono, in realtà, piccole cicatrici. Come molte altre persone, ho la pelle secca, ma la zona T a volte si lucida...soprattutto in estate. Questo siero serve ad eliminare rossori, discolorazioni o iperpigmentazione, o semplicemente macchie da acne (ha effetti sbiancanti), aiuta a nutrire ed idratare la pelle danneggiata, serve ad attenuare gli effetti dell'acne ed ha anche un leggero effetto antirughe. A parte questa piccola intro, prima di recensire questo prdotto ci vuole una premessa assurda sulla pelle, il Ph e così via.

Hello Girls! If you read this blog you may have noticed that I always remind you my skin type before any review...So let me remind it again (you can skip this intro, if you want lol)! I have very sensitive and acne prone skin, but my skin is dry. As many people, during summer, my skin tends to get oily on the T area because of sweat and all the dirty things summer takes with it. I suffered from major acne problems, to the point that I had prescriptions such as tretinoin for it, but now I don't anymore. I just have break outs occasionally due to hormones (when I'm on my period...ehw, gross! xD) And when i'm stressed. This product is really targeted for ME, but it may be the right solution for you too. It's a vitamin C serum with antioxidant, whitening and nutritive effects. This product helps to reduce acne, to exfoliate the skin, to reduce the appearance of pores and blemishes marks, as well as dark spots, due to the exfoliating effects it has, and it helps also with light wrinkles. But! Before buying/using this product, let me tell you something.

Premettendo che io non sono un medico, una dermatologa o in qualsivoglia modo una professionista del settore, poichè ho un costante interesse per la cura della pelle e ormai l'esfoliazione chimica sta avendo molto successo, mi sono informata prima leggendo molte review e vorrei che lo faceste anche voi. Se avete informazioni che volete io integri in questo post, basta scrivermi una mail o un commento!

Per riassumere, se usate esfolianti chimici e sieri alla vitamina C, dovete stare molto molto attenti all'ordine di ciò che fate e a come li usate. 
Partiamo dal fatto che il Pure Vitamin C-21.5 serum è un prodotto fotosensibile, e contiene anche AHA (esfolianti). Cosa significa? Significa che come prodotto va mantenuto al buio, lontano da fonti di calore/luce, ma anche non a temperature troppo basse. Inoltre va obbligatoriamente usato con una crema solare, ed è meglio applicarlo al buio o comunque lontano da fonti di luce per evitare anche l'ossidarsi del prodotto sul viso (sembrerete gialli). La pelle diventa più sensibile del solito ai raggi solari mentre lo usate, dunque non usate un spf 15 (e vi sto citando i consigli d'uso sul prodotto stesso, non voglio costringervi io xD). Ha bisogno di almeno venti minuti per agire,  quindi bisogna applicarla prima di qualsiasi altro prodotto ed aspettare (se avete tempo) oppure applicare un toner che aiuta il PH a ritornare stabile (5/5.5) prima di utilizzare qualsiasi altra cosa.  Dopo queste piccole informazioni base, andiamo a parlare del prodotto in sè:

As usual..I'm not a doctor or dermatologist or whatever, but I'm a skincare junkie, and I read a lot of reviews before purchasing something. Chemical exfoliators are a huge thing now, and many bloggers that I read have already said their two cents about them. To understand how our skin reacts to these kind of products, I would suggest you to read two interesting articles:

To sum up, this serum needs to be applied after your toner, after waiting something like twenty minutes (if you don't use a toner that is Ph 5/5.5) and you'll have to wait before putting anything on. Once opened, You need to store the product in a cold place such as your fridge and avoid direct exposition to sunlight, as it is photosensitive ( it oxidizes) and will make your skin sensitive too. In fact, it's better to apply it in the dark (at least that's what I did ) and wait some time before applying anything on. When using this serum it's highly suggested to use a sunscreen with more than spf15 in it. 

La C20 è il nuovo nome scelto dalla OST, che era già molto famosa per il siero alla vitamina C20, che, ovviamente come dice il nome, era un po' la versione precedente di questa di cui parlerò oggi. In base a chi possiede entrambi (o ha testato entrambi) questa è decisamente una versione migliorata: gli ingredienti sono di meno, è meno appiccicoso, è adatto anche alle pelli sensibili. Qui potete trovare la lista completa degli ingredienti del Pure Vitamin C20 serum ( prima versione) e qui invece quella di questo siero...Ma non preoccupatevi, gli ingredienti sono scritti in inglese sulla confezione stessa del prodotto. In ogni caso, la formulazione del Pure Vitamin C 21,5 advanced serum è priva di parabeni e di ingredienti che possono causare acne. Per utilizzare questo siero al meglio, dovete scegliere se usarlo una o due volte al giorno in base alla sensibilità della vostra pelle.

C20 is the new name of OST, already very famous because of their vitamin C20 serum. Obviously, this is somehow an improved version of the previous product, more suited to sensitive/dry skin. As you may notice from the ingredient list ( Pure vitamin C20 serum | Pure vitamin C21.5 serum ) this one has really LESS ingredients. Reading other reviews and comparisons, I can tell you that this is less sticky and less irritating, but it has almost the same effects. Basically the choice depends from your skin type. Don't worry, everything you'll need to know about ingredients, use etc it's written in ENGLISH (yaaay) on the package and as well on Wishtrend. Once you have your serum, you'll need to decide how many times and how to use it. If you're new to exfoliating products, try to test it and not rush your skin, use it only one a day. Otherwise, you will only sensitize your skin and cause it a lot of stress. 

Questo siero è sensibile al calore, quindi il suggerimento è quello di conservarlo in frigo, e di applicarlo principalmente la sera; in concomitanza bisogna sempre usare un filtro solare al di sopra dell'SPF 15. Il Pao del prodotto non aperto è lungo, ma la durata del prodotto aperto invece non lo è. E' sempre meglio utilizzarlo il più fresco possibile, quindi usatelo appena potete e non aspettate MAI di prenderlo in anticipo per usarlo mesi dopo. Un'altra cosa che potreste notare sono degli accumuli granulosi sul fondo della bottiglietta o sul bordo, è normale, non significa che è scaduto o andato a male. Arriva in una bottiglietta con solito contagocce, esattamente come le normali ampoule, ma la bottiglietta è siglillata e dovrete sistemare voi il dropper all'interno. E' trasparente, quindi potete vedere a che punto siete con il siero, ed è abbastanza resistente...ma è pur sempre di vetro, di certo non ci potete giocare a pallone! Una sola pompetta dal contagocce è abbastanza per tutto il viso. Non consiglio per nulla l'applicazione con dischetti di cotone o altro...fidatevi, è meglio applicarlo a mani nude (e lavate).

This serum is really sensitive to heat and light, so It's recommended to store it in fridge and to apply it at night (I'm sorry if I'm repetitive, but I'm fussy like that, ok.), as well as to use a sunscreen with it. the Pao when the product is opened isn't long, so it's always better to use it freshly juiced..so never buy it beforehand! You may notice at some point (like mine in those pictures) that there is a deposit of granules on the top of the bottle and down in the bottle too, but it's perfectly normal so--don't worry!The bottle isn't exactly sturdy; it's made of glass, so I wouldn't suggest to play soccer with it - ahah! It comes with a useful dropper (one pump is enough for the whole face) separated from the bottle itself, and you'll have to assemble it. 

Appena ricevuto il siero ho iniziato ad usarlo  di mattina e sera, dopo aver lavato il viso con sapone e aver applicato il toner. Diciamo che ho provato ad utilizzarlo dopo lozioni ed emulsion, ma non è davvero la stessa cosa, perchè non viene assorbito come dovrebbe. E' meglio applicarlo sulla pelle "nuda", che poi è anche ciò che la consistenza molto liquida suggerirebbe, visto che secondo il layiering si stratificano i prodotti dal più liquido al meno viscoso ( cliccate qui per saperne di più.)
Appena applicato si sente un leggero pizzicorio, all'inizio un po' fastidioso, ma ci si abitua facilmente. Man mano che è passato il tempo la mia pelle si è abituata, ed ora, dopo due mesi di applicazione, non sento quasi più nulla, anche utilizzando altri esfolianti. E' appiccicoso sul viso, ma non in maniera estrema.

When I received the product I immediately started to use it both day and night after cleansing my face and applying my toner. I did so because I already started to use another exfoliating treatment, so my skin was already used to it.  Let's get back to this serum...I tried to mix it with creams, or to use it after all my lotions and stuff, but I can say that it didn't work for me. I still believe and suggest you to use it alone, before any other products, as its liquid consistency would suggest.  At first, I noticed a tingling sensation, but it wasn't strong, maybe because my skin was already used to it...and of course, the more you use Aha/bha, the more your skin won't react. It completely disappeared after a while, anyway. After two months of application I didn't feel anything, to be honest. The only bothering thing is that it's still a little bit sticky.

La prima settimana in cui l'ho usato ho notato che la pelle era leggermente irritata ed arrossata nelle zone più sensibili tipo i lati del naso e, stranamente l'attaccatura dei capelli. Per un po' ho avuto la pelle più secca, e dovevo scrubbarla quasi giornalmente (con lo sferogel eh, un peeling idratante fatto apposta per essere usato giornalmente) perchè mi venivano pellicine inestetiche. Probabilmente la mia pelle stava...purgando? O reagendo? Non sapevo bene cosa stesse succedendo, e confesso di aver pensato di interrompere, se non fosse stato per il fatto che non avevo più punti neri e i pori dilatati si stavano riducendo tantissimo. La pelle era davvero più luminosa, e notavo che anche le lentiggini si stavano attenuando. C'era soltanto un modo per vedere se la reazione era negativa o no, quindi...ho continuato. Potete intuire che, ovviamente, la pelle si è abituata ed io mi sono sentita molto più sicura.

The first weeks of use have been scary, because I noticed that my skin was red, irritated, mostly around the nose and strangely on my forehead. Not only my skin was getting dry and flaky (I had to use my scrub almost daily-- my everyday one, of course), but I felt like it was more sensitive and needed more moisture. Probably it was purging, or reacting to the product. I didn't know, but I noticed that my skintone was brighter, I had less blackheads and enlarged pores... I had to keep using it if I wanted to know, so I kept using this serum...and I'm glad I did.  When my skin get used to it, I noticed many improvements and i felt more sure.

Ad oggi (dopo aver quasi terminato il flaconcino) la mia pelle è uniforme, le macchie si sono molto attenuate e il colorito è meno spento. Non ha fatto nulla alle vecchie cicatrici, se non schiarirle, ma ci sono ancora. Mi sento di dire che ho anche meno sfoghi, ed essi sono molto meno gravi del solito, ma non impedisce totalmente la formazione di brufoli. La pelle non viene seccata dal prodotto, ne ha avuto altre strane reazioni. Vuoi perchè lo sto usando in contemporanea con il AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid di COSRX, anche i puntini bianchi sottopelle sono diminuiti. Sicuramente sono molto tentata di comprare questo siero di nuovo, anche se un grandissimo punto a sfavore, per me che sono pigra, sono tutti gli accorgimenti che bisogna avere per usarlo.
Ho deciso di mostrarvi le foto del mio sfogo pre esame che ho fatto, oltretutto, durante il periodo in cui avevo ANCHE il ciclo. Non era uno sfogo "grave", ma era sulla fronte ed io, essendo chiarissima, ogni volta che ho brufoli rimango con segni rossi ed evidenti, così come i brufoli diventano /molto/ visibili e più arrossati rispetto alle persone con pelli più scuri. Non sono della tipica colorazione mediterranea ed ho la pelle sottile, quindi tutto si nota di più...Ma si notano molto anche i miglioramenti, quindi potrete vedere come sono stati enormi, e lo potrete vedere con chiarezza. Scusate solo la qualità delle foto e l'eccessiva pixelosità, ma sono fatte dal cellulare!

Today I finished the serum, but even when It was almost done, I could have tell you tha: my skin is more uniform, brighter, and dark spots and marks are almost gone. It didn't help old scars to fade, they just became more light. I can tell that my skin breaks out less often, and with less spots, but it didn't eliminate them totally...i still break out, sadly, because my skin is a bitch. Beside the adjusting time, this products doesn't dry out the skin, and there weren't any allergic or strange reactions. I used this with the AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid from COSRX so i'm not sure if it's due to this serum only 8probably not) but my whiteheads are less than they were before. I'm tempted to buy this serum again, but what discourages me the most is the high maintenance of the product because you need to have a lot of gimmicks to use it properly. Also, I decided to make some pictures to show you the before and after. First thing first: my skin is basically white, so everything, even the slightly little bump is totally noticeable and evident... because that's a problem of ghostly pale skins! So, even if it's not a major breakout, you'll see that it's a lot redder on my skin, and the marks are very evident. Secondly, I'm sorry for the bad quality/light of the pics, but they're taken from my mobile. I had this breakout before an exam and when I was on my period, so it's ormonal; it's very red, as you can see. In the pics I showed you how much my skin improved in 45 days (but even after 10 days you can see the difference in therms of pigmentation!) to make you understand how this product works.
