Lindsay Modeling Mask - Lavender & Collagen | Review

Prendiamoci un momento per parlare di un trend sempre più crescente in Corea: le modeling masks. Sono delle maschere peel-off molto delicate, che si trovano in forma di polvere; si mescola la polvere con l'acqua e si ottiene una mistura da spalmare sul viso. Si solidifica in uno spesso, fresco, materiale che sembra siliconico, e che si può tirare via dopo un po'. Le Modeling Masks sono anche chiamate "rubber mask", perchè quando vengono tolte sembrano gomma. Quando parlo di "peel off" non fatevi venire in mente la conosciutissima maschera nera che si tira via-- No, quelle maschere sono tutt'altra cosa. Mentre una suction mask (quelle nere) è fatta per tirare via le schifezze dai pori, le rubber masks funzionano come strati che coprono la pelle, come se fossero una coperta. Praticamente non lasciano evaporare tutte quelle cose buone che la maschera deve apportare alla pelle, poichè agendo come un coperchio, la maschera agevola l'assorbimento dei principi nutritivi.
Questo genere di maschere sono da sempre state usate nella SPA, e sono un passo (un bel po' di passi) avanti rispetto alle sheet masks, perchè sia adattano alla forma del viso di ognuno, essendo modellabili. Sono anche meglio delle normali mask pack (quelle che si comprano in barattolo o in tubetto), perchè non fanno evaporare le sostanze che devono essere assorbite dalla pelle e sono più facili ancora da togliere.
Oggi parliamo delle modeling mask di Lindsay. Una delle due (la mia preferita) mi è stata inviata da Peaux D'Anges, un negozio francese che spedisce in Italia!
L'ingrediente principale delle maschere della Lindsay è l'Alginate (un estratto delle alghe) che si può trasformare da polvere a gelatina, e gli altri ingredienti (di solito erbe e argille varie) dipendono dal "gusto" della maschera scelta. Inoltre, queste maschere sono naturali, senza oli minerali e parabeni.

Let's take a moment to talk about a huge korean trend, the modeling masks. They are very mild peel off masks that come in powder form; you mix the powder with water and you get the mixture to spread on your face. It solidifies in a thick, fresh, silicony material that you have to take off after some time. Modeling masks are also called rubber masks, because when you peel them off, they look like rubber. When I talk about "peel off", I'm sure the first thing you think about it's the infamous black suction mask: no, those masks are definitely not the same. While the suction mask is made to pull out the dirt stuck in your pores ( Suction motion), rubber masks may be considered as a blanket to cover your face (does that makes sense?). Basically they don't let the good things you put on your face evaporate away, as they act as a cap that also improves their absorption.
Those kind of masks were used in the SPA, and they are basically an improvement compared to sheet masks because they adapt to each face shape no matter what. They're also better than normal packs, because of how they don't let nutrients evaporate, and they're easy to pull off.
Today, we talk about the modeling masks from Lindsay. One of these masks (my favorite) was sent to me by Peaux D'Anges, a french store that currently ship in Italy too!
They have as main ingredient "alginate"(an extract from Kelp) that turns from powder into a jelly consistency, and the other ingredients (usually different kind of clays and herbs) depend on the type of mask you have chosen. These masks are all naturals, without parabens and mineral oils in it.

Queste maschere si trovano sul mercato sottoforma di barattolino di plastica, chiusi da una pellicola di alluminio e da un coperchio in plastica. Dentro, ci trovate una "polvere" finissima, difatti dovete stare attentissimi a come maneggiate queste maschere, perchè qualsiasi cosa fate (persino respirare) la fa disperdere. Questa è sicuramente la parte più scocciante, perchè dà l'impressione che si perda un sacco di prodotto. Ogni maschera dovrebbe essere monodose, ma in un barattolino ce n'è abbastanza per due usi; la scelta diquanta polverina usare è vostra! Se volete farvi una maschera in stile classico, bella spessa (che è come dovrebbe effettivamente essere), allora usate direttamente tutta la polvere e direttamente nel contenitore di plastica, altrimenti dividete la polvere in due razioni e usate una tazza di ceramica per mescolarla. Una volta aperta la confezione, ricordate che non è resistente, quindi tenetela al sicuro perchè il coperchietto si toglie facilmente.

Those masks come in a plastic jar with a transparent cap and an applicator in it. You can find a thin dust in it, and you really have to be super careful because this dust tend to get lost whatever you do...even if you breathe! That's the most annoying part, because I feel like a ton of product goes to waste. Every mask is supposed to be monodose,but in a cup there is enough product for two usages: it's your decision how much powder you want to use it! If you want to make an abundantly thick mask, you can use all the product directly in the plastic cup, otherwhise just use a rounded rice mug like I did. Once you open the cup, be aware that it's not that sturdy, so keep it in a safe place because the cap easily pulls away. 

HOW TO USE

Come ho detto, mescolate la polverina con l'acqua, ma non vi so dire le razioni precise. Guardate la consistenza! Il prodotto finale non deve avere consistenza liquidissima, ma nemmeno dura e grinzosa. Dovrebbe essere una bella mistura liscia, facilmente spalmabile e cremosa. Fate attenzione e siate veloci quando l'applicate, perchè tende ad asciugarsi in fretta. In fatti, nelle foto della review per la maschera al Tea Tree (dove mi ero messa a fare foto per la dimostrazione) vedrete che ad un certo punto avevo perso troppo tempo prima di applicarla e la maschera si stava asciugando già nella tazza...Se si asciuga (e non è  sulla vostra faccia) diventa inutile, mi sembra superfluo dirlo. Inoltre, l'applicazione può essere un po' IMPASTICCIANTE visto che rischiate di sbrodolare e impolverare ogni cosa sul vostro cammino. Non ci provate a metterla con le mani, si usa l'applicatore!

As I said, you mix the powder and the water, but I can't say the exact ratio of water you need. Look at the consistency! It absolutely doesn't have to have a liquid consistency, but it shouldn't have a clumpy consistency either. It should be a nice mixture, easy spreadable and very creamy. Pay attention and be quick when you apply it, because it tends to dry fast. In fact in my pictures you can see that at some point I had wasted too much time and the mask was starting to dry in the cup...if it dries and it's not on your face, it becomes useless! Also, of course the application can turn out to be a little bit messy, and it's absolutely impossible to apply the mixture without the applicator that comes with it (or a brush).

I miei consigli per utilizzare al meglio le rubber masks sono:

• Non dividetele in due, se davvero volete provare l'"ebbrezza" della rubber mask". O almeno provate a farne una coppetta intera almeno una volta, è un'esperienza che non rimpiangerete!
• Non dividete la maschera in più di due razioni
• Non applicatene uno strato sottile: è inutile, perchè la maschera non funzionerà, e sarà super difficile rimuoverla tirandola via
• Aggiungete l'acqua e mescolate poco a poco (2-3 volte), in modo da controllare la consistenza prima di fare il danno e aggiungere troppa acqua.
• Non fatela troppo liquida
• Fate attenzione, può macchiare i vestiti (non chiedetemi come lo so)
• Non fatela rimanere sul viso per più di 20 minuti. Se si è asciugata, non ha più principi attivi di cui la pelle possa beneficiare!
• E' il momento di tirarle via quando inizia a staccarsi da sola.
• Prima di fare la maschera applicate il vostro siero, poi la maschera sopra: lo farà assorbire meglio e in modo più efficace.

My suggestions to get the best out of these masks are:

• Do not split them into two parts if you want to really try the complete treatment...or at least, try to use the entire cup at least once!!! You won't regret it.
• Do not split the mask into more than two usages.
•  Do not apply a thin layer: it's useless, because the mask won't work as it's supposed to, and it will be super hard to remove.
•  Add the powder into the water into two or three takes; always stirr to check the consistency, before adding more water!
•  Do not make the mask too liquid
•  Pay attention when you apply it: it can stain clothes.
•  Do not let it sit on your face more than 20 minutes. If they're dried, they don't have anymore nutrients to deliver to your face!
•  Pull them off if you feel like they're not adehering to your skin anymore.
• Use some serum, then apply the mask on it...You will get double the benefits!

 

Peaux D'Anges mi ha inviato il gusto alla Lavanda poichè avevo detto loro che avevo una pelle tendente all'acne, e la loro scelta per me è stata perfetta! Però avevo anche da parte la maschera al collagene, quindi avrete doppia review!
Cominciamo dalla COLLAGEN MODELING MASK, che dovrebbe pulire i pori in profondità e nutrire la pelle. Siccome era la prima volta che applicavo questa maschera, non ho fatto niente per preparare la pelle, ma un utile trucco (da prestigiatore?) è di mettere del siero prima della maschera, così quest'ultima farà assorbire bene entrambi.Ovviamente ho avuto un bel po' il mio da fare per trovare la giusta consistenza, così come nell'applicarla...Ero spaventata di farmela cadere sui vestiti, ma mi sono comunque divertita. Siamo onesti, spatasharsi cose strane in faccia è totalmente da me!
Comunque, l'ho applicata e l'ho sentita subito molto fresca. Avendo pelle secca, non penso mi abbia aiutato molto in termini di idratazione. La pelle era morbida, liscia, idratata...ma ad un livello normale, accettabile, non al livello di vero"sollievo ed estasi" della pelle...Non al livello di pelle salutare e ribilanciata, ecco, u know what I mean Yo. Questa maschera non mi ha molto impressionata, insomma. Ma è stato un momento di relax.

Peaux D'Anges sent me the Lavender one, since I told them that I had acne prone skin, and the choice was perfect! But I also happen to have the collagen version, so today you're gonna have the review of both.
Let's start from the COLLAGEN MODELING MASK, that it's meant to cleans pore and give deep nutrition to the skin. Since it was the first time that I was applying this kind of mask, I didn't do anything to prep my skin, but a really useful trick is to apply a light layer of essence or serum before spreading the mask on. Obviously I had a little bit of trouble into making the right consistency, and into applying it...I was so scared to drop it on my clothes, but I also had a lot of fun. Let's be honest, slapping slimy things on my face? I'm totally up for it! lol
Anyway, when I applied it, I felt like it was really fresh. Having dry skin, I don't think it gave me enough moisture. I mean, my skin felt soft, smooth and moisturized, but at a very "normal" level, not in a "Relieving way", when you feel like your feel is restored and healthy. This mask...didn't impress me that much, I guess. But at least it relaxed my skin.

LAVENDER MODELING MASK: Ho adorato questa maschera. Di solito non mi butto a dire "Adoro", mi conoscete...Però ho provato molte maschere nella mia vita, e poch mi hanno impressionata: la Lavender modeling pack è una di quelle. E' calmante e rinfrescante, ed ha una profumazione leggera che fa da sottofondo rilassante durante l'applicazione. Le proprietà calmanti sono evidenti, perchè la mia pelle è subito diventata meno rossaed irritata, esi è pure sgonfiata un po'. Non posso dire che ha fatto sparire i brufoli, ma a calmato l'irritazione di certo.
La differenza estetica principale fra questa maschera e l'altra, è che in questa c'erano delle particelle visibili (azzurre) e varie erbe...L'altra era solo bianca.

LAVENDER MODELING MASK: I adored this mask. I usually don't go around saying "I adore it", you know me...I've tried too many masks, and there are very few ones that really impressed me; the Lavender mask is one of them. It's soothing and refreshing, and it has a nice subtle scent, so that you can't really complain while you're wearing it because it gives really a nice feeling overall. The soothing properties are more than evident, because my skin become less red and my irritated areas less swollen. I can't say it cleared out my skin, but it calmed the irritations for sure. There is a difference in the way this looks compared to the collagen one, because there are some particles and herbs in it!

Entrambe queste maschere sono molto buone /anche/ nel pulire la pelle da impurità e punti neri superficiali, pulendo la pelle molto delicatamente ed efficientemente. Non ho avuto nè reazioni, nè brufolazzi. Inoltre, non siate spaventati dal fatto che la maschera possa finirvi sulle sopracciglia o sui peli...Non li tira via. Posso anche assicurarvi  che, metti caso abbiate fatto un errore e abbiate fatto uno strato troppo sottile di maschera, anche se non potete tirarla via, potete sciacquarla con acqua calda o tiepida e/o una konjac sponge.
Per riassumere, (io) ricomprerei la maschera alla lavanda, ma non quella al collagene. Ora non vedo l'ora di provare le altre!

Both these masks were also good at taking care of impurities and blackheads, cleaning the skin very mildly but efficiently. I had no breakouts, no reactions. Also, Don't be scared if you put the mask on your eyebrows or on your facial hairs...It doesn't pull them off. I can also say that if you put a too thin layer on your face and it gets so hard that you can't peel the mask off, just wash your face with a konjac sponge and lukewarm water, and the problem will be solved.
To sum up...the one I will repurchase is the lavender one, but not the collagen one. Also, I really can'twait to try the other ones!
